
OXCEL Community Social Responsibility Effort at Tabika Kemas FELDA Jengka 1

The event which started at about 5pm commenced with the arrival of Dato Shahaniza Shamsudeen, member of the State Legislative Assembly representing Kuala Sentul and chairlady of the occasion. After the dignitaries were seated, the prayers were said by the Imam of Jengka 1.
The president of the Kindergarten for Jengka 1 then said a few words about the FELDA project. He thanks OXCEL for the renovation of the Kindergarten and stated that it is going to make a huge impact in the lives of the children and the community.
OXCEL Asia-pacific adviser then took the stand and talked about OXCEL, its activities and the project after which the Manager of FELDA, Jengka 1 talked about the benefit of the project to the community, the OXCEL-FELDA initiative and the change that has occurred ever since OXCEL took over the Kindergarten project. He was elated at the new sight of the kindergarten and praised OXCEL for their feat.
Dato Shahaniza Shamsudeen commended OXCEL and thanked them for their involvement in the project. She states her excitement at the project OXCEL had done and how it would change the face of the community. She said it will create a great learning environment for the children.
The presentation of awards was next acknowledging the efforts of the individuals responsible for the success of the project. Dato Shahaniza Shamsudeen and the dignitaries were then conducted round the kindergarten to see its transformation. A video of the state of the kindergarten before the arrival of OXCEL was shown in contrast to the renovated kindergarten. She was also shown a new learning technology for children called E Blocks and how they were a lot more effective than conventional teaching methods.
When asked the about the E Blocks and its benefits to the children, Mr. Ralf, a Hong Kong based primary education expert and E Block initiator said that it was a new style of learning adopted all over the world for primary school children and makes learning faster, more efficient and fun to do. It teaches them how to match words with their pictures, spelling, as well as hand-eye coordination, team work as they get to work in groups of up to 6 children at a time and most importantly they get to have fun doing it.
In an interview with the OXCEL Chief Operations Officer Mr. Ernest Yeap, he stated that the renovation was done based on a call from Bandar Jengka village development committee known as the JKK to extend their leadership qualities on their community. He stated that the change in the face of the kindergarten would ultimately provide a favourable learning atmosphere for the children. He also talked about the E Blocks which he described as a new way of learning with touch, sights and sound that provides a good foundation for English learning in children. He says it is going to change how English is learnt in Malaysia. He went further to state that through this project OXCEL is trying to create a shift in mindset of the people starting with the children that English and education in general is the key to a better life in the future.
Dato Shahaniza Shamsudeen was impressed at what she had seen and prayed that OXCEL waxes stronger so as to continue these good works.
In conclusion, the project was a success. The smiles on the faces of the children and the inhabitants of the community are one that cannot be quantified in any way. It’s a good thing that has been done in the lives of the people, one that would live with them for a long time. The new learning environment will make the task of the teachers a lot more effective; and more enjoyable for the children. OXCEL has once again gone a step further in delivering on their promises to the community and the people of Malaysia, this which follows with their motto ‘ductus exemplo’ which means leadership by example.
